"The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" was a really great hit. According to Associated Press, the movie has $82.5 million over the 4th of July weekend and lifted its total gross to $175.3 million after just 6 days.To be frank, I never watch "The Twilight Saga", let alone reading all 4 novels. So, I think it is not fair for me to give reviews on the latest Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart's movie. But somehow I have this stereotyped way of thinking that this "Twilight Saga" is more on appealing for females.
Nevertheless, "Eclipse" earned better reviews than the two previous "Twilight" movies and the fan base has expanded, with males accounting for 35 percent of audiences, compared to just 20 percent for last year's "The Twilight Saga: New Moon."
The fourth and final novel, "Breaking Dawn," is coming to the big-screen as a two-parter, with the first movie due out in November 2011.
On the other hand, I also have this stereotype thinking that "The Last Airbender" is more appealing for males. "The Last Airbender" was adapted from the cartoon TV series about a youth whose mystical powers can help unite four warring nations. It was directed by M. Night Shyamalan ("The Sixth Sense"), who conceived of the movie version as a possible ongoing franchise.
If I was given a choice (maybe when queuing to buy tickets at the movies), I would definitely choose to watch "The Last Airbender". I have nothing against "The Twilight Saga:Eclipse", it is just that I find the synopsis of "The Last Airbender" more interesting than the synopsis for "The Twilight Saga:Eclipse"- also maybe because I'm a guy, and guys don't normally watch moviesthat has females as their main audience!
