Lemang

All of these pictures was taken a day before Eid ul-Fitr. Eid ul-Fithr is a celebration that marks the end of Ramadhan.


Lemang is made from glutinous rice and coconut milk. It is cooked in a hollowed bamboo sticks as shown below


Pandan leaves is used to add a distinct aroma to the food. Fresh pandan leaves are typically torn into strips and then it is tied into a knot. The leaves are placed in the midst of the coconut milk and is removed at the end of cooking
The bamboo stick is lined with banana leaves to prevent the glutinous rice from sticking to the bamboo
